How To Make Your Kids Laugh

It’s the end of another long day, and you’re wondering where you’ll find the strength for tomorrow. The truth is, you felt the same way yesterday, and the day before. And yet, somehow, you still showed up. You did it. Just like you’ve done every single other day of your life. Bc, you’re amazing like that!!

When I feel like I’ve been more irritable than usual, or the atmosphere in our house is just “tense”, I look for ways to lighten the mood. I’ve always felt laughter, is not only fun and uplifting, but it’s healing, too.

Here’s some of the ways I make my kids smile/laugh… let them put a whipped cream pie in your face (it will make even the most stoic kids laugh), do a water balloon fight (if weather permits) or a snowball fight (if you live where it’s cold). Read some corny jokes (bonus points if the jokes are about poop). Have a pillow fight. Do breakfast for dinner. Prank call a friend (too immature? Perhaps you’ve forgotten who you’re dealing with here…).

If those things aren’t your thing, you can also try playing a board game (or any game, honestly), making them a bubble bath, having a special treat, do arts and crafts, or anything else that your child enjoys doing.

Kids love seeing us parents acting silly, making messes, or getting on their level. As parents, we’re so busy in our routine, doing what we have to do to get through the day, just trying to survive. I think it’s easy for us to get stuck in being “adults”, and forgetting to have fun.

These are tough times. It’s important we don’t forget to laugh.

What are some (easy/at home) ways you make your kids smile?

Love & Light,
✨Allie✨
